How to Find an Affordable Mechanic

Bad credit car loans are a wonderful thing. They allow you to get a car and to get around, regardless of the credit mistakes you’ve made in the past. Unfortunately, however, any car can break down or experience problems. Normally, that’s not such a big deal, but when you’re paying off a loan and trying to rebuild your credit, any unexpected cost can really throw you off.

The good news is that it is possible to find a great mechanic who will work for cheap. You just have to know a few “insider tips.”

To begin with, know that it’s okay (and even encouraged!) to ask for recommendations for a mechanic, but don’t ask people who might make a profit off their referral. Your tow truck driver, your dealership, and even your auto parts store may refer you to someone pricey just so they can get a nice reward. Only seek recommendations from those who have your best interest at heart.

Also look for mechanics who are certified by prominent organizations. They’re required, in most cases, to offer fair and affordable rates and to provide quality service. Good , certifying organizations include Automatic Service Excellence (ASE), Automotive Service Association (ASA), and the American Automotive Association (AAA), which maintains a list of repair shops.

To ensure you get great, affordable servicing for your car when it needs it most, follow these tips, and you can’t go wrong!
